The Study Abroad Blog
I recently started taking vitamins and suppliments, so far helping my weight or stomach. vitamin c is essential though, in this dark winter. Take any suppliments STephanie?
You are getting even more detailed in these break downs, awesome stuff.
I’ve never heard of an autistic mouse ?
They made contagious autism in mice? (Sterotypical evil german scientist) Soon ve vill have a human strain and ve can release it in sie human population. VE VILL MAKE SIE WORLD AUTISTIC!!! MUHAHAHA!!!
This was one of the best videos you’ve made ?? Great job Stephanie, thank you ?
So how does one classify a mouse as autistic…half of the time they can't even tell when a person is diagnosed with autism
Great vid as always steph 😀
I laughed a lot when I heard the autistic mouse part. And also spreading? 😀 Animals have cancer, arthritis, epilepsy etc. So experiments about some disease on animals (which makes me very sad) are important. But I think autism is a very complex condition for an animal brain (especially for a mice :D) because autism is not just repetitive movements and being anti-social. But for another condition (epileptic vertigo) I've been using Gaba receptors, and they also work for my meltdowns, shutdowns and sensory overloads but not about the other traits. And my only complaints about autism are those. This is who I am, I don't want to change and it turned my family's life to an adventure 😀
Would you think about doing a collaboration with Yo Samdy Sam channel?
After watching old TV show on Disney+ the new adventures Winnie the Pooh it was talking about been special I love been autism that’s what makes me special because God created me like that and he loves me like that my mom and dad tell me a just be yourself I’ve been autism That’s me people nowadays should be like him no Should be yourself that’s what makes you special
JUNK SCIENCE! The most dangerous aspect of the internet is people gain access to partial truths and plenty of falsehoods. We live in a "Wikipedia headline" world in which the details are either skipped of greatly distorted. I ignore all the general Google searching because most of the time you do not get honest results.
Although it is good to go directly to research papers, one must have enough understanding and knowledge to keep that research in context. Most know there are over 100 genes that have been tied to Autism. We also know that Autism is a spectrum of a multitude of traits/symptoms. Every time I read another "headline" of research that claims "something" is linked to Autism, I document this "new" revelation. What I find is far too much research claims they have found the most significant contributor to Autism. Most common is a statement in their conclusion that "much more research needs to be done on this subject." In other words……they want more money.
Do not get me wrong, there is a lot of excellent research going on and I (as an Autistic) applaud all the hard work. As I tally up all the research papers that claim they have found THE major contributor to Autism, well, I am now well past 27 different claims of "we have the answer and we need more money." Sadly, people read many of these papers and take them as final fact rather than research in progress. There is a ton of "Junk Science" going on with some pretty dangerous claims. Take for instance, the gem: "CHILDREN BORN via cesarean section may be more likely to develop autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a new analysis indicates." The "research" took data from "200 million cesarean births from 19 countries" and their "data" showed a 33& higher rate of Autism compare to vaginal births. "JUNK SCIENCE!" A person has a cesarean birth for a reason. They ignored the REASON the people were birthing via that method. SO they totally ignored critical data that could have shown it was the REASON (or influencing medical issue) for the cesarean that could influence risk…….not the cesarean action. This sadly is not uncommon in research.
More direct to the research you read. Remember Autism is a spectrum. To date, no one has come close to finding the full answer. I suspect it will never happen. WHY? We all are unique, we all have differing traits and challenges. You can partly blame the Mental Health community for lumping so many variations under one umbrella and calling it all "Autism.." I think you will find over time the individual symptoms will have to be resolved independently. There will never be the "magic pill!". This explains why so much research claims they have the answer. They may indeed be on the trail of one or handful of causes for specific traits/symptoms. None can fully explain it all.
SO, in summation of my opinion…….be very careful of generalizing research and making connections that are only speculation. Indeed, true scientific research is critical. Most contribute potential insight to pathways or answers. As much as we all would like to think science fully understands the human body, brain research is still basically still on the shoreline of a huge ocean of complexity. Before anyone decides to "act" on ANY research (sticking to the Ocean analogy)….."before you jump into the ocean and swim off believing there is land over the horizon, you may discover you are in water over your head and may very well get eaten by something unseen under the surface."
Extremely Impressive, I enjoyed it a lot!, See this New Album 'Monish Jasbird – Death Blow', channel link www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_x5rlxirO-WKjLIyk6okQ?sub_confirmation=1 , you can try 🙂
Can the kcc2 be fixed
Thank you so much for this info?
Thanks for putting time intro interpreting these studies.
I can hear the TV commercials now – “Have you or a loved one had GABA tweaked to reverse autism in the past 5 years. You may be eligible to join a class action lawsuit….”
As you point out, there’s a LOT of moving parts in the equation.
You could argue, that when you learn a new song on the piano or a phrase in a foreign language, you’re re-wiring your brain. True. But your brain is making all the decisions on how that’s done and – it knows what it’s doing!
A whole lotta maybes in the study. I actually got chills thinking about brains being re-wired in utero, or during childhood. Honestly, I hope that’s a future I never see.
good video very clear and considering how complex the science is – very easy to understand.
The way I see it if God wants you to be nuerotypical then He would have wired your brain that way. No the was your autistic brain is wired.
Very through and informative. I looked up your resources, and I think your assessments are correct. GABA may manage one or a few of the symptoms, but I think Autism is more complex than just one thing. The idea that a "cure" may make us lose ourselves is an interesting concept.
