To celebrate National Poetry Month in April,
Carver students traveled across the school to share their favorite poems. After studying their unit on poetry, Carolyn
Harris’s 1st graders presented a Traveling Poetry Recital by visiting 1st through 5th
grade classrooms to recite poems, tongue twisters, and nursery rhymes. The poetry was presented by the group as well
as individual students, with all of the students memorizing their favorite verses to share. Each performance allowed them to build fluency
and confidence in their public speaking skills, while the audience of peers enjoyed listening
to the familiar rhymes.
