Hello, my name is Ian Lambert and I’m a lecturer
in the School of Arts & Creative Industries. I’m here to tell you how Edinburgh Napier’s
in-sessional English as a Foreign Language programme can help you from your first day
at University, right through to graduation, whether you’re new to University life or doing
your second or even third degree. We offer one-to-one help, feedback and flexible
drop in workshops on a range of topics. That means you’re not committed to a specific number
of sessions, but can choose classes that suit your own needs. Unlike some other universities, our term-time
English support is completely free of charge to our students, so it’s useful to take advantage
of the programme – even if you’re fluent in English – for help with writing in the
UK academic style. You don’t need to have studied our pre-sessional
EFL courses to use our in-sessional EFL support, but of course we will build on what you have
already learned if you’ve previously studied with us. “At first I found the university experience
quite challenging because English is not my first language. Thanks to EFL in-session support,
my grades have improved and so has my confidence. I would advise all students to go along as
it is a hugely valuable resource.” “The EFL programme has helped me with two
essays and one presentation. I just felt more confident with my skills and the results confirmed
it.”
