Canada the “International English Language Testing System” or “IELTS”. IELTS is a test developed by the world’s leading experts in language assessment
on four key English language skills listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
It is designed to assess the language ability of people who aim to study, work
immigrate, and integrate an English-speaking environment. It is
accepted and trusted in Canada. IELTS is the preferred high-stakes English
language test in Canada, trusted by over 350 Canadian
organizations. It was the first test to be recognized by the Immigration,
Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) as proof of english language proficiency
for express entry or skilled immigrants. There are two types of the IELTS test,
the academic and general training. Prior to taking the test it is important that
test takers determine which is the most appropriate type for their circumstances
is. If test takers discovered that they have taken the wrong type after the test has
been written there is no possibility of a refund. The two versions of IELTS to
meet all purposes are IELTS academic and IELTS general. With IELTS you can go
anywhere in Canada and beyond. IELTS academic is for study purposes if you
want to study at a university at an undergraduate or postgraduate level or
join a professional association where English is a prerequisite. The academic
type assesses a test takers readiness to study or train in the medium of English
at an undergraduate or postgraduate level by testing the full range of
formal language skills required for academic purposes.
Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs and courses is
based on the results of the academic type. The academic type is also suitable
for professional registration. On the other hand IELTS general is for work or
immigration purposes. If you want to apply for Express entry or any other
immigration program in order to establish anywhere in Canada. The general training type emphasizes basic language survival skills in a broad social and
educational context. General training is suitable for test takers who are going
to english-speaking countries to complete their secondary education , undertake work
experience or training programs, or to qualify for immigration to Australia, New
Zealand and the United States and of course Canada. The test format test
takers are tested in listening, reading, writing and speaking . All test takers
take the same listening and speaking modules. There is a choice between
academic and general training in the reading and writing modules. The tests
are designed to cover the full range of ability from non user to expert user.
Listening, reading and writing modules are completed in the morning. The
listening module commences and is followed by the reading and writing
modules. These three section lasts for three hours. There is no break during
this time. All speaking section is usually held the afternoon of the test day
between 1:20 and 5:20 p.m. However, speaking tests may be scheduled later.
Every test taker spends 11 to 14 minutes in the speaking interview.
All speaking interviews are usually completed by 6 p.m. however this cannot
be guaranteed. Speaking times are randomly assigned and cannot be changed. The interview time will be provided in the morning during registration. Please
note that while every effort will be made to ensure that test takers have
a speaking time that is most convenient for them , the test centre
cannot guarantee their preferred time. NOTE: Speaking interviews are usually
scheduled in the afternoon of the test day; however the interview can be
scheduled during the seven days prior to or seven days following the testing if
test takers interview is not on a test day, they will be contacted via email or
phone to inform them of the date and location of their speaking test. Thank
